Skill Guide
Ranged Weapons
Pistols
Short-ranged, quick to fire weapons that do moderate damage. They fire with one hand, and have some pretty spiffy animations when you quickly switch targets from any direction around you. Mainly, they’re very quick guns.
Rifle
Slower, but longer range and more damage give the Rifle a different approach to Range Weapons. They do the most damage, and are good when you zoom in and aim for specific areas, doing a lot of damage in a single shot.
Crossbow
A perfect balance between speed, damage, and range, the Crossbow fits nicely in between your Pistol and Rifle. They don’t use bullets, so they don’t use the Weapon Types below, but there is a Repeater variety. The Repeater Crossbow is able to fire multiple bolts before needing to be reloaded.
Blunderbuss
The ultimate short range weapon, the Blunderbuss does massive damage and is able to hit multiple targets with its shot. This gun is pretty worthless at range, but devastating up close. Unlike the Pistol and Rifle, it doesn’t have multiple Weapon Types.
Weapon Types
Flintlock
A single shot, a single quick reload. This is what most guns are at the earlier level.
Turret
The turret has multiple chambers, giving you the chance to shoot multiple bullets before having to reload. You still must reload every chamber, though, so reload times can take awhile. Still, a step above your conventional Flicklock weapon.
Clockwork
You are able to store an entire clip of shots, giving you quite a few shots before having to reload. And instead of reloading one bullet at a time, you reload the entire clip, making it a quick way to unload a lot of ammunition at your enemies.
Skills
Dexterous Styles
- Level 1: Rolling (300 xp)
Just give A a tap while you’re moving to perform a Roll, but you must be engaged in combat for this to work! - Level 2: Aimed Ranged Attack (3,000 xp)
You can tap Y and shoot an enemy, sure. But why not hold down Y and aim precisely on an enemy? This gives you more damage, faster shots, and generally an easier time with Ranged combat. - Level 3: Zoom (18,000 xp)
The Zoom is used by holding down Y, and just keep holding it down. Your screen zooms into the target slowly, giving you bonus damage for the longer you zoom. One hit kills are now a breeze, especially with a Rifle. - Level 4: Sub-Targeting (72,000 xp)
Take out a arm, leg, or go for the head with sub-targeting. De-arming an enemy may be fun, but is as fun as blowing off their head? You decide. Hold down Left Trigger as you hold down Y, then use the Left Stick to target a body part.
Accuracy
| Level: | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 |
| XP Needed: | 600 | 6000 | 36000 | 144000 | 432000 |
| Damage: | x1.25 | x1.5 | x1.9 | x2.3 | x3 |
Do more damage in Ranged combat. That simple! You need to invest in here frequently to become a skilled marksmen.
Speed
| Level: | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 |
| XP Needed: | 450 | 4500 | 27000 | 108000 | 324000 |
| Damage: | x1.1 | x1.15 | x1.2 | x1.25 | x1.3 |
Reload faster, which is a must since Fable 2 throws so many enemies at you. Also helps for Melee, in which your attacks are stringed together with increased speed.
Combat Tips
Clockwork Pistols + Aimed Ranged Attacks
Normally you have to wait a fraction of a second between shots with a Clockwork Pistol… at least when firing from the hip. You hold down Y and aim your shot, suddenly that restriction is over. Just tap Y as fast as you can, empty the clip, and reload a new one. This works well with Speed, as your reload times get faster and faster. Taking out high HP targets becomes much less of a difficulty!
Force Push
Your best friend is Force Push. Doesn’t take as much XP to upgrade, pushes back your opponents, and even have a chance to stun them.
Vortex
Nothing is quite as entertaining as sucking your enemies in a Vortex and plucking them down, one by one. Good times!
