Blacksmithing Guide
Blacksmithing
Location
The only blacksmithing location is in Bowerstone Market at the.. er, blacksmith.
Possible Issues and Resolutions
I HIT THE BUTTON WHEN THE DOT WAS IN THE GREEN.. DANG IT!! Yes, there is just a slight bit of delay between hitting the A button and striking with your hammer… hit at the close side of the green, not the middle. If you can’t, just wait for the dot to slide back over and catch it on the second pass.
Slow renders. Yes, immediately upon beginning a new hammer strike, the location of the green area will be in the exactly same place as it was before. You need to be patient enough to wait a moment for it to move. It’s rendered and then the game has to think for a second before it moves it for you.
High combo chains / high levels. Yes, the dot moves FAST once you get up in levels and higher combo chains. Don’t try to be impatient. Always wait for the dot to move past the green once, and catch it on the return path. Remember to hit it on the far side of the green, not the middle or other side as you may miss it with the delay that may be there.
Difficulty / Time / Payout
Blacksmithing, if you follow the notes above, can be very lucrative until you have a bit of real estate. I personally always get to Blacksmithing level 5 immediately upon entering Bowerstone Market for the first time on all my new characters. It can be difficult; if you have problems with it after a while, leave it alone and come back to it or move on to Bartending. The time-to-payout at level 5 is more for Bartending simply due to the fact that it takes less time to serve out beer than create swords, as it takes six strikes per sword and the dot begins to move much faster.
Suggestion
Go ahead and get Blacksmithing up to level 5 as soon as you get to Bowerstone Market. Unless you’re adding lots of money via transfer from another character or Pub Games, it’ll come in handy to be able to buy up the Tavern or Blacksmith itself and start getting some recurring money, as well as some better weapons and some clothing of your choice, and maybe some XP potions if that’s your fancy. You can’t do Bartending yet anyway.
