Basic Controls

If anything could be said about Fable 2 controls, it’d be that they are SIMPLE. Great controls for better gameplay in combat.

Movement / Camera

Left Analog Stick – Character movement. Targeting, see Combat below.

Right Analog Stick – Camera movement (solo play only).

Left bumper – Center camera straight in front of you (useful in co-op or to look around).

Interaction

A Button – everything. If you can talk to it, accept, interact with it, etc… use the A button.

Left Trigger – when blinking on the screen, use this to zoom in on a close target during a quest.

Directional pad – used for common expressions. Down/Left are always evil/rude and Up/Right are always good/pure.

Combat

X Button – melee weapon. If the weapon is sheathed or your gun is out, tap once to bring out, and tap again to swing. Point a direction with the left analog to swing in that direction. To be able to strike townsfolk, etc, safety must be turned off to make all “hostile” or targetable.

Y Button – ranged weapon. As above, tap to pull out, tap to shoot. Use analog stick to target a “hostile” character as above. Some skills will allow you to zoom in, causing more damage and even target certain body parts. In-game help upon learning these shows how to do this; this guide is to remain completely spoiler-free.

B Button – hold to charge magic spells (or tap to fire level one spells). Release for a surround spell, or push the left analog stick to a target and release for a targeted attack.

Right Trigger – Assign spells to the different charging levels without pausing by holding and using the directional pad.
